Virtual Construction Intern

HITT Construction Interns (CIs) participate in a hands-on internship experience in the “Cornerstone Phase” within the HITT Futures Leadership Program. CIs are placed with Futures program mentors for the duration of their seasonal work at HITT, participating in day-to-day operations of the operations team. This training and employment period will be used as an opportunity for the candidate familiarize themselves with the different facets of construction while learning the way HITT conducts business relative to our industry. Further, this period should also be used by the candidate to become familiar with HITT’s history and corporate culture.

The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, high-performing, and has strong communication skills. Key to this position is the ability to multi-task and to remain cool and productive while working under multiple deadlines. The position requires attention to detail and the overall objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Create and/or augment models as needed to insure comprehensive coordination, including: architectural, civil, construction, mechanical, structural, operations and maintenance.
  • Support documenting, teaching, and testing the integration of BIM tools and VDC processes.
  • Support marketing and project pursuits by creating VDC related graphics, animations and presentations.
  • Update and maintain models to insure they are current to contractual and constructability requirements.
  • Assist in leveraging BIM models in quantification, coordination, QA/QC, creation of RFIs, constructability visuals, existing condition, and various analysis of the information embedded within the models.

Qualifications

  • Current student pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree from an accredited university within the construction, engineering, or architecture concentrations strongly preferred
  • Previous industry internship/work experiences a plus
  • Ability to work approximately 40 hours per week for the duration of the 10-week construction internship program (no overtime available)
  • Ability to successfully manage multiple, competing priorities in a deadline driven environment
  • Ability to learn sector/project-specific software systems including but not limited to: Microsoft Office suite (ex. Project, Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, etc.), Bluebeam, SketchUp, Revit, AutoCAD, Navisworks.
  • Ability to actively participate in social events, weekly intern classes, and HITT culture activities

  • Strong written and verbal communications skills
  • Strong positive attitude, ability to follow direction, take initiative, display desire to learn
