Benefits Analyst

The Benefits Analyst responds to and resolves employees’ benefits questions and problems, processes benefits transactions, communicating with health insurance vendors regarding eligibility and other benefit issues, inputs data into and retrieves information from our HRIS benefits website and any other vendor websites as needed. Assists in conducting benefits orientation and other benefits meetings as needed.

This role will work closely with Payroll and Human Resources on the identification, research, and resolution of benefit issues and changes. The Benefits Analyst will be a multidisciplinary role working in an expanding HR department.


  • Plans, implements, and oversees day-to-day activities and special projects to ensure the effective delivery of health, retirement, and wellness programs and services.
  • In partnership with Payroll Analyst, ensures any changes to employee benefit plans are accurate and reflected correctly in employee paychecks for weekly payroll.
  • Conducts weekly payroll audits on employee benefit plans to include arrears.
  • Develops and updates written and verbal communications and conducts employee benefit presentations for Orientation and Open Enrollment.
  • Administers employees on leave in partnership with Benefits Manager.
  • Serves as back-up to Payroll Analyst.
  • Measures the value of health and wellness program offerings and activities, contributions, and results.
  • Collaborate with vendors in managing all aspects of health and wellness program and services including design, communications, monitoring/evaluation, service delivery, and vendor management.
  • Present program offerings, best practices, and assists with communications to promote wellness plan.
  • Continually review workflow processes to following production, productivity, quality, and customer-service standards; resolving employee or operational problems’ identifying work process improvements; implementing in partnership with Benefits Manager and VP HR.
  • Researches and analyzes benefits benchmarks, trends and policies, making recommendations where appropriate. Participates in Employee Benefits Surveys as needed. Recommends ideas to improve benefits effectiveness and efficiency.
  • Ensures that timing, resources and sequencing of work efforts are aligned to produce the desired result and with minimal employee disturbance.
  • Demonstrates service excellence to all customers. Ensures a positive first impression and professional communications.
  • Assists employees in understanding employee benefits policies, plans, and processes.
  • Assists with documentation of employee benefits policies, plans, and processes and, in partnership with Benefits Manager and VP HR, improves with additional lessons learned.
  • Documents and analyzes lessons learned.
  • Routinely reconciles large volumes of data such as benefits enrollment database from employer level to enrollments under vendor databases.
  • Enter and maintain employee benefits data in HRIS and audit employee data to ensure integrity.
  • Research, respond, and follow-up to employee inquiries in a timely manner regarding health & welfare programs.
  • Assist with reconciling employee data, processing, and submitting ACA forms through HRIS vendor.


  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • 1-3 years’ experience in Human Resources including familiarity with employee benefit programs
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Proven ability to collaborate with diverse participants across multiple disciplines to achieve business goals
  • Must be able to work with confidential information. 
  • Ability to communicate, interact and work effectively and cooperatively with many departments
  • Good interpersonal relations, customer service, public relations, critical thinking, problem solving, and presentation skills.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Human Resources Information System (HRIS).
