Vice President, Commercial Construction – Healthcare Sector

We have an immediate need for a Vice President of Healthcare. This individual will be the highest level of leadership for our Healthcare sector.  The Vice President is responsible for strategic growth by developing targeted client relationships and landing pursuits in accordance with the Healthcare market sector Business Plan. The VP shall function as the ‘market sector leader’ and is responsible for leading and developing the entire team, as well as delivering profitable and timely construction projects.  The VP shall contribute at the corporate level for both general ideation (leading to efficiencies / betterment) and process compliance.

The Vice President of Healthcare will report directly to an Executive Vice President. 

  Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute Healthcare specific Business Development Plan; Consistently review progress with Healthcare Senior Leadership Team; Goal to increase revenue and maintain profitability and exceed minimum target efficiency
  • Lead internal Healthcare ‘all hands’ team meetings, senior leadership meetings and contribute to corporate meetings including the Business and Operations meetings.
  • Holistic management of the construction life cycle; from pursuit phase to project closeout
  • Leverage Healthcare Subject Matter Expertise by offering to clients in-depth process driven content (for example advise on jobsite logistics and how this can benefit them at early planning stages or how alterations can be made to achieve the client’s budgetary goals)
  • Financial – Reviews construction budgets/bids for accuracy; reviews financial reports and takes action where required to achieve desired profitability
  • Facilitate opportunities for the Healthcare Sector to enhance and leverage HITT’s presence in the marketplace including industry awards, speaking engagements on panels, social media posts, attendance at industry association events, publications, etc.
  • Lead the pursuit and interview submission process for new work including development of the win strategy and team interview preparation; specific emphasis on understanding the individual clients needs and concerns
  • Team development; recruit and onboard team members, ensure team members have development plans in place to continue their growth, lead the promotion and performance review process for the team
  • Will be required to collaborate closely with senior-level Operations team members across the company and Corporate Resources Department leadership
  • This position directly supervises Operations roles such as Vice Presidents, Project Executives and other members of team Healthcare, including sponsoring Site Operations team members
  • Will be required to lead presentation efforts to prospective clients and attend industry related networking events
  • Will be required to monitor the Healthcare industry (clients, design community and consultancies) for trends that may affect construction costs, efficiencies and/or quality – Considered the Subject Matter Expert for Healthcare construction in the company
  • This position is responsible for contract execution and financial management

Qualifications

  • At least ten years of experience in the Healthcare construction business with subject matter expertise
  • Has a proven track record of successful project completions, high client satisfaction and solid profit earnings
  • Experience leading others and has recruited and coached team members to success
  • Four-year degree from an accredited university
  • Software proficiency and/or ability to become proficient in Microsoft Office suite (ex. Excel, Word, Outlook, Project, etc.), Microsoft Dynamics (CRM) and Procore (Project Management)
  • Strong communication and presentation skills, including technical writing
  • Analytical and critical thinking – be able to gather data, interpret it into meaningful information, and relay that information through clear, concise communication strategies; able to see how pieces and processes fit into and affect the bigger picture/business model
  • Risk analysis - able to assess potential opportunities with an eye towards identifying and bringing forward issues that may put the firm at undue risk.
