Preconstruction Manager

The Preconstruction Manager is an essential member of a high visibility team responsible for delivering exceptional and trusted client services in the construction industry. This role provides critical data inputs for preconstruction projects that are necessary for the team to fulfill its obligations to internal and external stakeholders. In the position, the Assistant Preconstruction Manager will develop an increased level of proficiency in the time and cost implications associated with construction: cultivating a fundamental knowledge of the relationship between building systems, the construction process, construction costs, and construction schedules.

The Preconstruction Manager role delivers invaluable day-to-day support in producing a full suite of preconstruction services. These services may include feasibility studies, budget estimates from conceptual design to final bidding, comparative studies, and value engineering.

 

Responsibilities

  • This position typically reports to a Senior Preconstruction Manager or Preconstruction Manager
  • This position does not supervise any direct reports, but does provide supplemental oversight of Project Engineers
  • This position is responsible for the day-to-day management of trade subcontractor activities
     

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture or related field preferred
  • (5) to (7) years field experience or close involvement with projects under construction
  • Software proficiency
    • Microsoft Office Suite, with high level of proficiency using Excel
    • On Screen Take-off (OST)
    • Adobe products, including Bluebeam
    • Destini Estimator experience preferred
  • Perform quantity take-offs from design documents for major building systems
  • Prepare written scopes of work for various trades
  • Review and understand technical and financial information being presented by subcontractors
  • Author RFI’s during the pricing phase of the projects
  • Communicate with subcontractors and suppliers on a routine basis
  • General understanding of how complete project budgets and bids are developed
  • Basic knowledge of construction process and building systems
