Chief of Staff Intern 

HITT Contracting., a Washington Post Top Work Place, seeks a summer intern to join our Principal Leadership Team (PLT) from May to August in the Falls Church, Virginia headquarters office. This position will report to and be mentored / managed on a day-to-day basis by the Chief of Staff. S/he will support across all aspects of the Chief of Staff’s role, with a focus on knowledge management: coming to understand existing ways that information and files are shared, and looking for opportunities to refine these systems and implement new tools. The intern will gain a first-hand understanding of the day-to-day operations of a dynamic and fast-growing national general contractor.

 The ideal candidate is energetic with a willingness to take on projects that range from data entry to challenging special projects. Key to this position is a great attitude, sense of accountability, attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and a sense of urgency in providing service to internal and external clients.


  • Help create and improve project processes for institutional knowledge that support the organization’s effectiveness.
  • Provide support to the Chief of Staff to manage progress and measure success of departmental goals and corporate initiatives.
  • Assist Chief of Staff with ad hoc corporate projects
  • Provide basic clerical services as requested by the Chief of Staff, including drafting / editing / proofing correspondence, packaging, basic typing, printing, and copying / scanning.
  • Provide administrative support (set-up, printing, agendas, coordination of catering request, etc.) for all committee meetings, including Corporate Steering Committee (CSC), Enterprise Governance Committee (EGC), Business Unit Leaders (BULs), and Corporate Leadership Council (CLC).


  • Seeking a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or related field
  • Completed at least two years of coursework
  • Proficient writing and communication skills are required
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft office, including, Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and SharePoint
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Proven self-starter with an excellent, can-do attitude
  • Willingness to go the extra mile and give even the smallest tasks a high level of attention and effort
  • Loves learning new tools and pursuing new ideas
  • Passionate for continuous improvement – we are seeking someone who loves to think about how to make things better, faster, and more effective
