Commercial Construction Senior Project Manager

A senior project manager (SPM) is responsible for leading and managing a team of project managers, assistant project managers, and superintendents to deliver exceptional results for our clients. The Senior PM is a senior level position, and is expected to identify, propose, manage, and close construction projects that generate profits for HITT. Specifically, this SPM should have an extensive background with Corporate Interiors & Tenant Improvement projects.

The senior project manager is ultimately responsible for the day-to-day execution, project controls and engineering, cost, risk, and business management of a particular project. As a leader, the senior project manager should lead by example and personify The HITT Way.

  • This position directly supervises operations roles such as assistant project manager, project manager, MEP managers, superintendent
  • This position typically reports to a vice president and/or Sector Executive
  • This position has owner contract and subcontractor signature authorities
  • Is expected to manage and support the project team in pursuit of work, contract execution and financial management
  • Senior project managers should lead the hiring process of team members
  • Senior project managers participate in team member employment termination decisions

Qualifications 

  • Four-year degree from an accredited university preferred: Construction, architecture, engineering or business concentration is preferred
  • At least seven years of experience at a commercial construction general contractor or in related position
  • Has been the lead project manager on several projects or significant portions of a larger project

  • Respectful – is punctual, engaged/focused, and respectful of others

TECHNICAL SKILLS

  • Software proficiency – able to adapt to and become proficient in sector/project-specific software systems
    • Microsoft Office suite (ex. Excel, Word, Outlook, Dynamics, PowerPoint, etc.)
    • Procore preferred 
    • JD Edwards
    • Scheduling (ex. MS Project, SureTrak, Primavera 6, etc.)
    • Adobe and/or BlueBeam
  • Communication – is clear, concise, and professional; tailors style to audience appropriately
  • Analytical and critical thinking – be able to gather data, interpret it into meaningful information, and relay that information through clear, concise communication strategies; able to see how pieces and processes fit into and affect the bigger picture/business model
  • Financial – can produce construction budgets and estimates; is responsible for cost management throughout the life of the project
  • Risk Management – is proactive in identifying and mitigating contract and project risks
  • Policies and procedures – is knowledgeable of and enforces policies and procedures
