Assistant MEP Project Manager

The Assistant MEP Project Manager position is for individuals interested in pursuing a career in construction management and technical mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) construction.  This is an entry-level position that focuses on the development of core-project management skills, with an emphasis on managing mechanical and electrical construction activities.  Daily interaction with the project manager, superintendent, and MEP Manager will provide a unique opportunity to wear several hats during the construction project.  You will assist in processing and distributing the construction documents.  This may include updating the project drawings and specifications, managing requests for information, pay applications, submittals, and close out documents. 

On the field side, you will work directly with the project superintendent conducting field inspections of the mep system installation, developing and updating construction schedules, and learning how to build complex mechanical and electrical systems.  On the technical side, you will support the MEP Manager by assisting with equipment inspections, vendor coordination, equipment startup, mep commissioning document control, and supporting the commissioning process.


  • Develop pre-construction RFP package
  • Assist bidding mechanical and electrical trades
  • Assist in creating and managing a project budget
  • Establish job processes (RFIs, submittals, and pay applications) including approving pay applications and negotiating subcontract change orders
  • Ensure that required project documentation is submitted in accordance with the project schedule
  • Assist in conducting project meetings, setting milestones and formulating monthly owner report
  • Update project schedule; ensure project quality control and establish overall project logistics
  • Track and coordinate equipment deliveries
  • Review mechanical and electrical submittals
  • Collaborate with the project superintendent and site operations team throughout the life of the project
  • Assist in developing an MEP critical path schedule
  • Maintain adherence to HITT’s standards of safety
  • Assist MEP Manager to provide conflict resolution for MEP issues
  • Assist in coordinating and managing the quality control process for MEP systems construction
  • Assist in coordinating and tracking critical path construction activities
  • Assist in managing startup and pretesting of mechanical and electrical systems
  • Assist coordinating and supporting third party commissioning activities
  • Manage commissioning documentation
  • Assist in managing the closeout process


  • High school diploma required, four-year degree from an accredited university within the construction, engineering, business concentrations, or mechanical / electrical engineering is strongly preferred
  • 2-5 years’ experience in commercial construction, including experience with a commercial general contractor, or  experience in mechanical / electrical system construction
  • Previous experience on commercial job sites, mission critical construction, and hospital construction strongly preferred
  • Passion for construction and our industry; ability to recognize and seek quality
  • Ability to master sector/project-specific software systems including but not limited to: Microsoft Office suite (ex. Project, Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, etc.), ProCore, Adobe, BlueBeam, JD Edwards
  • Willingness to travel
