Human Resources Intern

HITT Contracting is seeking an intern to join our Human Resources team. The intern will primarily be responsible for supporting our COVID-19 response through contact tracing, research and advisory. With direction from the Human Resources Manager, the intern will follow clear protocols to notify, interview and advise HITT team members and subcontractor partners with confirmed or potential COVID-19 exposures. We are seeking two interns to support two part-time shifts: Monday through Friday from 8:00am to 2:00pm and Monday through Friday from 2:00pm to 8:00pm (both Eastern Pacific Time).

The intern position may be an entirely remote role.


  • Monitor the Human Resources shared inbox for COVID-19 related activity and respond in a timely manner to new inquiries.
  • Determine based on predefined protocol the correct response to each inquiry and contact the respective stakeholders via phone and/or email to perform contact tracing or provide direction.
  • Collect detailed information when completing tracing and create adequate and compliant written communications for notifications to those exposed or impacted to reduce the risk of spread.
  • Maintain thorough records of COVID-19 exposures, vaccination status, test results, etc. in secured Human Resources files.
  • Provide ad-hoc reports for various COVID-19 related metrics and evaluate the data to recommend any further action or changes in protocols.
  • Regarding all responsibilities, work in tandem with Human Resources Manager and internal contact tracing team to ensure the correct action for all scenarios, escalating when necessary.
  • Keep abreast of evolving legislation as it pertains to COVID-19, both federally and per each jurisdiction in which HITT conducts work.


  • High school diploma or equivalent; some college preferred
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and privacy
  • Working knowledge of HIPAA and the Privacy Act a plus
  • Interest in human resources or related field
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, both speaking and writing
  • Exhibit critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to exhibit a sense of urgency and persistence if follow-up is needed
  • Proficiency with Excel
  • Contact tracing certification a plus
