Director, Business Development – Americon HITT

The Business Development Director primarily supports the Americon HITT office in establishing new business relationships for the purpose of securing RFPs for both local and national opportunities. This position will also work closely with internal stakeholders across the country in establishing account-based management processes to further Americon HITT market share in New York.

The qualified candidate brings strong sales experience and established relationships in the AEC industry and possesses the ability to implement a business development strategy and execute goals set forth for the Americon HITT office alongside local office leadership. This person possesses excellent communication skills, an understanding of the AEC industry and the ability to manage multiple priorities and competing deadlines. The ideal candidate preferably has a strong track record of securing work for local and national clients in the corporate office industry.  

Responsibilities

Sales

This role will serve as the primary team member responsible for cultivating new opportunities and relationships for the New York City Metro Area.

  • Business Development: Procure new client and partner relationships based on business development objectives and executes tactics to support overall regional goals. Provide introductions to the New York City leadership and work with office administration to produce report on sales activities to appropriate levels of management. 
  • Industry involvement: Actively promotes the company’s profile and brand by participating in tradeshows, association events, and conferences. Seeks out impactful sponsorship opportunities that leverages existing New York City leadership.  Entertains prospects and clients appropriately.
  • Administration: Leads New York City business development meetings; shares relevant information at a corporate level and works together with the  corporate Marketing team in the RFP process.
  • Data Management: Maintains New York City office business development activities within CRM database alongside local leadership and provides reports and forecasts to leadership as needed. Is well versed in standard computer software to provide reporting Monthly and Quarterly to Business Unit Leader.  Seek relationship with HITT National Account leaders to bring focus on New York City area contacts.
  • Social Media – Work and post events and news pertaining specifically to the New York City region on social media channels.

Account Management

Develops relationships with key corporate accounts to include end users, developers and industry stakeholders utilizing HITTs account-based management process. Responsible for performing quarterly audits for review with New York City leadership to review profitability and progress on target accounts.

  • Capture: Executes effective capture strategies to turn prospects into secured work. He/she will be expected to collaborate closely with pursuits team and New York City Operations staff.
  • Seller Doer: Understands the seller doer process and takes on a collaborative approach to building relationships and at the appropriate time involving and alongside others to further opportunities for the local office.  Set up not less than monthly, meet in greet events with industry partners with operations and site operations team for general sales exposure.
  • Client Experience: Develops and maintains ongoing client and partner relationships to ensure excellent client service. He/she will be expected to demonstrate a consistent experience for prospective and existing clients and partners.  Takes the high road in all client interaction.  Develops a budget and adheres to entertain clients and industry partners. Work with marketing on the results of the yearly client engagement survey.

Business Development Planning

Lead New York City business development planning and submit monthly reports on progress to leadership.

  • Develop, implement, and measure key business development and brand exposure strategies alongside leadership.
  • Collaborate with corporate business developers to ensure consistent approach on national accounts as well as coordinate shared leads.
  • Execute well defined objectives while identifying market trends and opportunities to ensure HITT’s brand position in the New York City community.
  • Provide support to office leadership in developing short- and long-term business development goals, including yearly projections of revenue.
  • Do adequate research on bid opportunities before presentation.  Follow HITT’s go/no go process.

Qualifications

  • BS or MS in Construction Management, Architecture, Business or Marketing.
  • Ten years of in the AEC industry, with proven success in sales, corporate business development and account management.
  • Knowledge in the RFP/bidding process in the AEC industry.
  • Ability to read plans.
  • Demonstrable track record of increasing sales responsibility in identifying sector  focused end users.
  • Very strong communication, attention to detail, and negotiation skills.
  • Travel may be required to Washington DC quarterly.
  • Industry references are required prior to interview.
  • Have a driver’s license (with clean driving record) and access to an automobile for travel outside New York City boroughs (car allowance will be provided).

In accordance with New York City Human Rights Law (NYCHRL), Local Law 32, the base salary range for this position is $185,000.00—$235,000.00. Compensation in other cities and states may vary. The determination of salary is based on the candidate’s individual professional experience, qualifications, education, skills, and training.
