Learning and Development Associate – HITT University

HITT Contracting, ranked a best place to work for over 10 years by the Washington Business Journal and Washington Post, is hiring for an experienced Learning and Development Associate. This position will report to the HITT University Manager and is responsible for supporting and contributing to key learning and development initiatives and training activities to meet the needs of HITT team members.


  • Works with L&D manager to develop, organize and communicate HITT University class schedule
  • Partners with Marketing team to promote classes and content
  • Acts as the Learning Management System (LMS) database administrator for HITT. Supports tasks such as:
    • Monitoring and tracking training activity and compliance
    • Generating system reports and creating custom reports
    • Serving as liaison between client and technical resources as required; escalating issues as needed.
    • Facilitating LMS training to end users
    • Managing registrations, withdrawals, wait lists and rosters for learning events in the LMS
    • Adding new content and offerings
    • Troubleshooting all system admin issues and tasks
  • Partners with external vendors for troubleshooting or technical issues
  • Assists team members with any inquiries as it relates to HITT University Online including managing all aspects of the HITT University email box
  • Leads development and coordination with SMEs of HITT Friday Flash.
  • Organizes all class materials for distribution to instructors and learners prior to class.
  • Ensures timely and consistent communication to team members, managers and stakeholders regarding training and upcoming courses
  • Works with Administrative Services and ensure training rooms as properly set-up for class
  • Assists instructors as needed prior to and during class
  • Runs evaluation reports as requested
  • Identify new opportunities to improve processes, procedures and overall team member experience, including development and transition of upcoming customized LMS
  • Works with SMEs to develops new online or instructor-led training programs as needed
  • Assist with updating existing materials to include PPTs, web-based trainings and job-aids
  • Assists Vice President of Human Resources with special projects as needed


  • Undergraduate degree required, preferably in Instructional Design, Education, Distance Learning or Adult Education
  • 2+ years demonstrated experience uploading content and end to end management of a Learning Management Systems (LMS) such as Absorb
  • Have demonstrated experience with a Learning Management System (LMS) transition
  • Knowledge of adult learning theories and knowledge of best practices in online delivery
  • Strong interpersonal skills; able to work in a team environment.
  • Strong presentation skills and ability to work with senior leadership
  • Demonstrated ability to design, develop, and implement instructional materials following defined processes
  • Organized and self-directed with the ability to multi-task and work independently
  • Strong knowledge of Adobe Suite, MS SharePoint, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, MS Outlook, and MS Word
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills
  • Strong initiative, attention to detail and the ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously
  • Intellectual curiosity and a willingness to master system administrator tasks and grow skills of learning development
